Miracle kit featuring Authentique papers

I don't think I have ever had a play with Authentique papers before, but when I received the "Miracle" kit from Mad About Scrappin' I knew I had a new favourite! The papers are such high quality, and feel sooooo nice - they are so beautiful and thick and textured.

The colours in this kit are not my normal kind of colours, nor are the die cuts as they feature a baby boy theme. Luckily, I have some gorgeous baby photos of my nephews (and given these are well, quite a few years ago now I am sure I am allowed to show them here!).

My first thought when I saw these stunning papers was "mail" and "parcels", so I knew this photo of the most gorgeous bundle would be perfect...and off I went with my idea being to have four "parcels" or "letters" on the layout. The word stickers look great in amongst the journalling, all I added was the stamp stamps (which I think are Basic Grey, and have been missing for a while until I finally unearthed them in the bottom of the cabinet where they had slipped down). Here are some close ups:

Next up is a layout that literally came together in about half an hour, I loved the tags that came with the kit and wanted to incorporate them somehow on a layout. So another banner was born!

Just look at that little flowerpot man! Now he towers over all of us!

This was my favourite tag, perfect for the relationship I have with both my boys. I won't go on, we don't want to get all soppy now do we!?!

I have also done two cards, and also have papers left for at least another layout - such great value and everything you need.

This gorgeous kit is available for purchase TONIGHT at the Mad About Scrappin' Flog it Friday sale, so click on the link to check it out, along with all the other great bargains.

Ahoy there!

I think I mentioned how "having" to use certain products sure gets me out of my scrappy comfort zone, and some of the cutest pirate themed handmade buttons from Scrap Elegance Scrapbook Supplies managed to do just that!

Luckily, I have some cute photos of Alexa all dressed up as a pirate (lucky for older boy cousins and an aunty who kept their dress ups!) and came up with this one:

And a close up of that funky button:

Also wanted to point out my funky new splatter type stamps from Stampin' Up. These are from a couple of different sets, but I love that I can get that messy, splattery look without getting, well, messy and splattery! And I can use all the Stampin' Up' colours so always have a colour to go with my layout.

What Easter means to her...

The May challenge at Kraft it up is to interview your child about what Easter means to the first thought for most children would be "Easter eggs" or "Chocolate"...but not Kiara as she doesn't like chocolate (I know, I know - where DID she come from??). So Kiara thought about it for a bit and came up with "Fun and fishing." That sounds pretty good to me.

Self portrait laughs!

Yesterday we were outside and I was having a little play with the camera while the girls were "cooking" (with mud, mind you). Funnily enough we all had on black skivvy type tops - very unusual as this is most unlike Alexa's normal wardrobe choices (a little disclaimer though, she did have a dress over the top of her skivvy earlier in the day, so all is well with the world!). Anyhoo, I thought it would be a great chance to get some photos of us all together...hmmmm....shoulda known better!

Circles, circles and more circles

I seem to be having a bit of a thing with circles lately, perhaps it is Tiff's fault. Anyhoo, the May challenge at Scrap Sanity is to scraplift the most gorgeous layout by Maria Featon (which is completely out of my league, all gorgeous and full and flowery) so I had to simplify it right down and came up with this one:

Sorry for the crooked photo, I think it is straight in real life. Maybe not!! So you can see where my lift is coming from? Maybe not!!

Let your smile change the world...

The quote challenge at Scrapbooking From Scratch is to create a layout based on this quote:
"Let your smile change the world, but don't let the world change your smile"

So I thought it was screaming out for a photo of Kiara just being RA - not posed, no fake smile for the camera, and I found this one:

And I think I invented a new trick for twine and buttons - I love the look of the twine threaded through the buttons, but can never be bothered with all that tricky threading and tying, so now I just thread all the buttons on together and twirl that twine around a bit and voila! Look out for this on more layouts soon!

Having a sister...

I knew when I saw the May challenge at Scrap the Girls I just had to give it a go! The challenge is to create a layout based on this quote: "Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there." Amy Li. Having so many photos like the following, I left the last sentence of the quote off and came up with this:

I think you can tell which papers and colours I have sitting on my scrap desk at the moment - there's some kind of a pattern going on here!!
The great thing about doing some design team work for people is it really makes you think differently than maybe you otherwise would when scrapping. I received some extra cool buttons from Tenisha at Scrap Elegance Scrapbooking Supplies to play with - and immediately to mind came some photos of Alexa from a few years ago at the carnival. Isn't it uncanny how these photos match with these funky button embellishments? The buttons will be available from the May sale at Scrap Elegance

A Mad May sketch!

The May sketch challenge is up at Mad About Scrappin' and it is yet again a great sketch designed by the ultra talented Em Stafrace at Page Drafts.  I am not sure how many times I can say I have another new favourite layout, but I think this is going to be another one of those times!!

Here is the original sketch, I strayed a little from it but you can see where I was coming from (I think??!!).
